I was born in Ipswich in the first half of the last century.
From 1958 to 1962 I attended Ipswich School of Art where I studied painting and lithography for the N.D.D. The following year I obtained the A.T.C at Hornsey College of Art.
Between 1964 and 1976 I was employed as a litho-retouching artist by the printing firm of W.S.Cowell in Ipswich.
Following a period of unemployment in 1977, I undertook a one-year training for qualified teachers to teach shortage subjects, at Trent Park, Middlesex Polytechnic and in 1978 started teaching design and technology at Westbourne High School in Ipswich. In 1988 I became design co-ordinator at Needham Market Middle School where I remained until I retired from teaching in 2001.
The majority of my paintings, which are representational, feature the local coastline or local urban environment. I exhibit at the Reunion Gallery in Felixstowe and sell paintings privately, sometimes working to a commission. I use acrylic paint on watercolour paper, which enables me to build up the textures, colours and tonalities which best describe my chosen subject matter.
