Benevolus.com is a private company committed to operating an ethical, financially transparent and socially responsible business, with the specific aim of benefiting charitable causes, artists and schools. Our small team consists of individuals with a wide range of experience in business, technology, fundraising, health care and education.
Our vision is to create a forum for community fundraising on a large scale, whereby small charities and appeals can benefit from card revenues in the same way as larger charities. Furthermore, they can benefit all year round rather than just at Christmas. We welcome all types of charitable causes and appeals, both large and small, national, regional or local to join us in this fundraising effort.
At the same time we aim to help raise the profile of artists and schools thereby generating income for the artists and funding for the schools.
Why use Benevolus.com?
Charitable Giving
The concept of charitable giving, particularly at Christmas is a well-established tradition. Conventionally this is achieved by choosing charity Christmas cards, whereby the charity receives a percentage of the cost of the cards. This is often as little as 10% and rarely more than 50%. When higher percentages are achieved, the charity still has to bear the costs of card production.
Conventional charity cards have three important drawbacks
- The donation made to the designated charity is typically quite low, sometimes only 10% of the cost of the card
- Their production, distribution and delivery consumes valuable natural resources and contributes to the destruction of our environment
- The range of charities is limited, it is often impossible to find cards which benefit a local charity or fund raising effort
- The cards are often commercially mass produced
Benevolus.com addresses all of these issues
- We promise to donate 60% of the cost of each e-card to a “Charitable Cause” of the sender’s choice
- eCards are the most environmentally friendly form of greeting card
- Any approved charitable cause can receive the Benevolus donation.
- Our cards are individually designed by artists who will receive 10% of the cost of each e-card designed by them.
- What’s more, by using Benevolus.com to send all types of greeting cards, charities will continue to benefit throughout the year, rather than just at Christmas
What is a Charitable Cause?
For the purposes of the Benevolus website, a Charitable Cause can be any of the following:
- A registered charity
- A school fund
- Local charities and appeals
- Any other cause which has a social benefit and which is approved by us
